July 4, 2014 | Nimes, Pont du Gard and Something I've Never Done Before

So today, Independence Day in the USA, we did not get to do the traditional fireworks and celebration here in France but we did take a trip to Nimes and Pont du Gard.

The first place we visited was the Arena of Nimes. It is a Roman amphitheater that was built in 70 AD. They currently use it as a concert arena.

We also saw the Maison Carrée temple.

Our last stop was the Pont du Gard which is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge that crosses over the Gardon River.

Everyone was enjoying swimming in the river and some people even jumped in off the rocks.

And guess what?,,, I JUMPED IN!!!

This was something that I've NEVER done before and it was so exhilarating! It was definitely one of the best moments of my life. I didn't think that I would ever have been able to say that I jumped into the river at the Pont du Gard in the South of France.

We actually did end up having a traditional American 4th of July cook out later that night. I can say without a doubt that this has been the best 4th of July ever, even though I didn't celebrate it in America. à bientôt!
