July 11, 2014 | Saint Remy and Glanum

My Treasures of Provence Art History class visited the hospital Van Gogh stayed in after he cut off his ear and was named mentally unstable. It is in the city of Saint Remy and while there we stopped by the ancient archeological site Glanum.

This is the painting Van Gogh made depicting the room he stayed in when he was in the hospital.

This is the bathroom in the hospital.

Glanum was a city that was abandoned in 260 AD. It still has the two well preserved monuments of Les Antiques and a triumphal arch.

We all climbed up a near mountain and sketched and ate lunch overlooking the ruins.

We made a last stop to the Musée Des Alpilles in Saint Remy.
