Color has always been something I’ve been drawn to and it has been a very important factor in every photo series I’ve done. The brighter the better I always say. My paint splash series was made with color in mind.
This is what this series would look like in black and white.
This is my first food series and color was obviously the main focus.
Here is what that series would look like if I did it in black and white.
When I took a film class at SCAD, we had to use black and white film because it has a simpler developing process. It was hard at first for me not to shoot things that were colorful. I started to see the world differently. I started to see it in black and white. Here are some of my 4x5 large format film photos from my film class.
This is one of my favorite photos that I took and I didn’t even think about converting it to black & white, but I think it actually looks really great.
I don’t dislike all black & white photography. In fact, I think it looks really good on portraits, such as my own self portrait on this blog. However, my goal for the rest of the year is to take more black & white photos that isn’t portraits.
