July 20, 2014 | Le Tour de France

Today a group of us traveled to the neighboring town, Coustellet, where the Tour de France would be coming through. We waited around for about 3 hours and then the bikers wooshed by in a blink of an eye and it was all over in less than a minute. About 30 minutes before they sped by, there was a parade of sponsors and they threw things out into the crowd. I personally only got a twisty straw and a pack of Madeline's pastry. My roommate said she caught a pack of laundry detergent with her face. It was a very fun and thrilling experience that I will never forget.

Some SCAD students waiting for the Tour de France to come through.

The two leading bikers were way ahead of the pack.

The rest of the bikers sped by in a blink of an eye. I didn't even get to see it because I was looking through the viewfinder of my camera.

One of the bikers dropped his water bottle and this man was able to get it. He didn't speak any English but I tried talking to him in the best French I could muster up. I told him to hold on to it because it might be worth something one day. I also took this picture of him and his son and got his e-mail address to give it to him. He was so thankful and appreciative for it and it really made my day to know I did something to make them so happy and to remember that moment forever.
